We welcome volunteers at Treborth Botanic Garden

You might want to help with gardening, or with the Friends events and activities.

Whatever you do, as a volunteer at Treborth Botanic Garden, you are one of a very diverse and interesting group of people from all walks of life and with very wide ranging interests and skills.

Our ages run from 18 to over 90. It is a great team to be in.

*** Please note that at present (Summer 2024) we have no volunteering vacancies.

If you would like to join our waiting list please contact us (see below) and we will let you know when more volunteering opportunities arise ***

Benefits of volunteering

Volunteering provides an opportunity to use some leisure time helping to make one of Bangor's few public open spaces better, more welcoming and more interesting for the whole local community.

Many volunteers also delight in developing new skills and gaining new knowledge, especially about plants, wildlife and horticulture.

Garden volunteers are managed by the Garden staff

Volunteering at Treborth Botanic Garden offers many benefits and it's fun; just ask anyone who already volunteers with us! We welcome enquiries from new volunteers and although we are not recruiting at present we maintain a waiting list.

Before you can start volunteering with us, we ask you to first attend an induction session.

Email us at  l.toth@bangor.ac.uk to register your interest. At the inductions you will be given more information about what volunteering in the Garden involves and you will be asked to fill in some paperwork. We will also ask about your interests and experience. Following this, we will arrange a date for your first practical volunteering session.

Volunteers who help with events and activities are managed by the Friends

There is a range of jobs including growing plants, preparing labels and signs for plant sales, arranging trips to other gardens, making teas at plant sales and other events, event publicity and stewarding.

If you think you might be interested in this type of volunteering, please contact us.

Volunteer days

Volunteer days are Wednesdays and Fridays from 10:00. We provide drinks and biscuits, but you may want to bring  a packed lunch if you want to stay into the afternoon.
